Reinstated small community garden behind Campus Ministry building with cross-departmental support from the college. A revived campus project.

Took students to experience and reflect on poverty in our state – Week-end trip to Catholic Worker in Detroit, Michigan within the first 6 weeks of the academic year
Event Planning

Supported “Hunger and Homelessness Awareness” week with innovative program – created “Flex to Food” program where students could use their excess “flex” cash on their student meal plan to purchase canned and non-perishable food items for Baxter Community, Grand Rapids food pantry

Increased campus awareness of social justice issues – Peace Fest 2011: 10 - 20 participants

Participated in a resource table in a public school for “counter-recruitment” led by local NGO

Bought and delivered food for local charity's “Christmas Basket” program for a vulnerable community member

Wrote, published and distributed social justice related articles in a mini-zine format by student authors for the campus community – had both winter and fall issues, 100+ copies

Brought awareness to campus of social justice related events in the community via postings on Intranet (the Moose) and Social Media; events and news listings
